The UTFORSK Partnership Programme supports project cooperation between higher education institutions in Norway and higher education institutions in Brazil, China, India, Japan, Russia and South Africa.

Under the UTFORSK programme, SIU and the Brazilian Federal Agency for Support and Evaluation of Graduate Education (CAPES) issue joint calls that aim to strengthen the cooperation between higher education and research institutions in Brazil and Norway, in all academic fields.

Results of the joint call in 2017

In 2017, SIU and CAPES issued a joint call for applications for funding of joint projects between higher education institutions in Norway and Brazil. By the application deadline on 11 September 2017, SIU and CAPES had received 16 eligible applications.

The CAPES/SIU Programme Commission held a video meeting on 8 January 2018 to discuss the applications received under the call and select projects for support. Six project proposals were approved for support. The list of approved projects is available here. All applicants will be contacted individually and notified about the outcome of their application.

Upcoming calls

No new joint calls between SIU and CAPES are currently planned.

About the programme

Brazil is Norway's most important partner country in Latin America, and issuing joint calls with relevant funding agencies in Brazil is a priority in "Panorama", the Norwegian Government's strategy for cooperation in higher education and research with Brazil and five other priority countries in the period 2016-2020.

Previous joint calls

There have been three previous joint calls between CAPES and SIU, one in 2013, one in 2016 and one in 2017. In total, 19 projects have been supported. More information about each project can be found in SIU's project database.
