The Norwegian Programme for Development, Research and Education (NUFU) supports partnership-based academic cooperation between researchers and institutions in developing countries and their partners in Norway focusing on research, education, capacity building and institutional development.
NUFU Women's Rights and Gender Equality (2008-2012)
The thematic focus of this sub-programme in NUFU is Women's Rights and Gender Equality, which is among the most important priorities of the Norwegian Government’s international development policy. Norad is funding the programme and the total budget frame is NOK 22 million.
The NUFU Programme Board has granted support to five cooperation projects over five years; two bilateral projects and three network projects. The time frame for the projects funded under this agreement is 2008-2012. All the projects have a strong emphasis on the education of female PhD candidates, some of them also on education at Master’s level; and the topic of their research is related to gender equality and women’s rights, women’s role in agricultural production and business, women’s and girls’ education and/or women’s health.
A mid-term review of the sub-programme is conducted in 2011. The final report from the review will be presented on this web page ultimo 2011.
Details about all projects supported by NUFU Women’s Rights and Gender Equality can be found in SIU’s online project database.
