NORHED
The Norwegian Programme for Capacity Building in Higher Education and Research for Development (NORHED) is Norad’s new programme for capacity building in higher education and research in low and middle income countries.
The overall goal of NORHED is to build higher education and research capacities in low and middle income countries (LMICs) as a means to enhance sustainable conditions conductive to societal development and poverty reduction. The programme will be based on equal partnerships between institutions in the cooperating countries and in Norway. NORHED builds on and will replace Norway’s current NUFU and NOMA programmes.
NORHED will be organised in sub-programmes with specific thematic and/or geographic focus, and may support education on Bachelor-, Master- and PhD-levels, as well as joint research.
The programme is financed by the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad) and will be administrated by SIU.
Who may apply?
In low and middle income countries: Higher education institutions accredited/recognised by in-country national authorities. Countries must be listed in OECD DAC’s register of official development assistance recipients, or listed in the specific call for proposals.
In Norway: Higher education institutions accredited by NOKUT that offer accredited degree programmes at relevant academic levels.
How to apply?
There will be a call for proposals for seed money during spring 2012. The first main call for proposals will be in course of fall 2012.
