Norad Programme in Arts and Cultural Education
The Norad Programme in Arts and Cultural Education (ACE) offers support and scholarships for collaboration between institutions of higher cultural education in the South and in Norway.
The overall goal of the ACE programme is to contribute to strengthening cultural education institutions and to professionalising artists and art forms in select countries in the South. The following objectives apply to the programme:
- To establish models for cultural education that lead to formal qualifications for the students
- To contribute to the development of art and culture as sources of income for graduate and cultural institutions
- To strengthen the expertise and independence of the cultural institutions involved by contributing to the development of professional cultural arenas and networks in Norway’s main partner countries and between countries in the South
- To contribute to gender balance among students
The programme includes scholarships for students at Diploma, BA and MA levels at institutions in the South, in Norway or in combination (sandwich programmes). ACE also supports the development of networks between institutions of cultural higher education in the South.
Who may apply?
Institutions in the South wishing to participate in the programme must meet one of the following criteria:
- From countries with which Norway has signed a Memorandum of Understanding in the
- cultural sector
- Norway’s partner countries within development cooperation (overview here ). Special priority will be given to countries where Norway is already involved in cultural cooperation.
- Consideration may be given in special cases to partner countries where Norway is active in the cultural sector.
The programme is open for Norwegian universities and universities colleges that offer higher education in the following fields:
- Visual arts / sculpture
- Dance
- Design
- Music
- Theatre/drama
- Cultural heritage
