SIU's new name
SIU's new name is Norwegian Centre for International Cooperation in Education (SIU). The name is changed because the centre is now responsible for international cooperation on all educational levels in Norway.
The Ministry of Education and Research has established new regulations for the Norwegian Centre of Cooperation in Education (SIU).
– SIU's main focus will still be higher education, but the name change is natural since we got more responsibility for international cooperation in basic training in 2010. SIU is therefore responsible for international cooperation on all educational levels, says the Director of SIU, Alf Rasmussen.
SIU's new board regulations puts an emphasis on the balanced competence of its members, according to the focus areas of SIU. The centre will be responsible for Norway’s positive image abroad regarding education and studies, and will cooperate closely with The Research Council of Norway to promote Norwegian research.
Cooperation with other partners
SIU will prioritize and further develop the cooperation with other national and international partners, and establish its work with other interested parties and actors.
– A close cooperation with the educational sector and other partners will further develop our competence and professional connections. It gives SIU the opportunity to aid the sector on international cooperation in the best way possible. It is important to think in terms of coordination, particularly when it comes to international cooperation in education and innovation, Rasmussen says.
