Norad launches new programme for capacity building in higher education and research
NORHED – Norwegian Programme for Capacity Building in Higher Education and Research for Development is Norad’s new programme for capacity building in higher education and research in low and middle income countries.
The programme will be based on equal partnerships between institutions in the cooperating countries and in Norway.
NORHED draws on findings and recommendations from the external evaluation of NUFU and NOMA, as well as experiences from other donor funded programmes in higher education and research.
NORHED will have thematic and/or geographic focus, and may support education on bachelor-, master- and PhD-level, as well as joint research.
There will be a call for proposals for seed money during spring 2012. The first main call for proposals will be in course of fall 2012. NUFU and NOMA will be phased out after the ongoing programme periods.
Programme web pages will be made available on www.siu.no in October.
