SIU frequently conducts surveys, produces reports for the Norwegian authorities and deals with enquiries from journalists and others. SIU’s activities may be of interest to media covering schooling, education or internationalisation.

Mobility
In the context of education, the term mobility is used to describe the flow of students across national borders. Every year SIU publishes a mobility report with the aim of presenting the latest figures on student and PhD mobility in and out of Norway. Knowledge of such movement is important as exchanges and mobility have become a political priority both in Norway and internationally.
Promoting Norway
SIU holds the national responsibility for promoting Norwegian higher education and research abroad. Working with the education and research sectors, the aim is to promote Norway as an attractive place for students, academic staff and institutions from across the world.
SIU acts as a programme administrator
SIU is the point of contact in Norway for international educational programmes, which it administrates on behalf of owners and clients. SIU administrates EU programmes and Norad-funded programmes along with a number of other programmes and schemes at all levels of education.
