Women's Rights and Gender Equality

Women’s rights and gender equality are among the most important priorities of the Norwegian Government’s international development policy.

NOK 22 millions have been set aside for network and bilateral cooperation projects over five years (2008-2012) with thematic focus on women’s rights and gender equality. The funds are earmarked to projects that contribute to research, knowledge generation and institutional cooperation within this thematic field.

Five projects have been granted support and among these are two bilateral projects and three network projects. The main collaborating partner institutions consist of universities from five countries in the South and four institutions in Norway.
