Fellowship Programme for Studies in the High North

SIU and the Norwegian Ministry for Foreign Affairs signed in May 2007 an agreement for the period 2007–2010 regarding a fellowship programme for studies at institutions of higher education in Northern Norway. The Fellowship Programme for Studies in the High North forms part of the Norwegian Government’s High North Strategy.

Following the pilot phase that began in 2006 SIU and the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs signed an agreement about university cooperation with countries in the South Caucasus and Central Asia (2007-2010). The annual allocation is NOK 7 000 000. Projects that were initiated in the pilot phase were given opportunity to apply for projects of up to three years’ duration (see left margin).
