Cooperation with Eurasia

The Norwegian Cooperation Programme in Higher Education with Eurasia supports project cooperation between institutions in Norway and Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kirgizstan, Moldova, Tadzhikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan. The overall goal is to contribute to renewal and internationalization of higher education in the cooperating countries.

The programme is based on an agreement between SIU and the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the programme period runs from 2010 to July 1, 2015. The total budget frame is up to 20 million NOK per year.

Who can participate?
Eligible participants in the programme are accredited higher education institutions in Norway and in the cooperating countries. Activities can vary in theme, scale and length. Both long-term cooperation projects as well as limited collaborative activities may receive support from the Eurasia programme. The projects should preferably be in line with institutional strategies and priorities, and must in any case be endorsed by the leadership at the involved institutions. Student mobility from the cooperating countries to Norway is also supported through the programme.

How to apply?
SIU invites institutions in Norway and the cooperating countries in Eurasia to prepare joint project applications in higher education. It is possible to apply for funding of new long-time cooperation projects, continuation of on-going projects in the region, project development funds (seed money) as well as limited collaborative activities.

For details, please consult the Eurasia Programme Document and Call for proposals 2010.

Totally 15 million NOK are available through this year’s call.

Application deadline is September 3, 2010.
